RANCHO VALLEY 18-1 WINS FESTIVAL !!!!!

Congratulations to Danny and his team. This team has been consistently one of the best performers in the very tough So Cal region all year and they lived up to their #1 seed in Reno.  This team ran through the tournament losing just one game in 4 days of action packed matches.  This was RVVC's second Festival Championship under the leadership of Danny Scott.  The last title came in 2006 over Saddleback Valley's 18-1 team. For coach Danny this final two-game sweep of Sports Shack was most likely a sweet revenge for the festival final of 2005 when Rancho lost the title to the hands of that very same club and coaching staff.  On another note...perhaps someone should check the festival record books.  I believe that Danny's 3 Festival Titles (2 with RVVC and one with Sun West) puts him in a very small class of coaches to have multiple titles at the festival.  These girls deserve every bit of the accolades being heaped upon them.  They have been a class act all season long and truly exhibit all the qualities of a team.  Not to mention the fact that they are REALLY AWESOME!  Check out the action on one of these dates and times:

More great news for Rancho players...

It seems USAV has the same high regard for our athletes as we do!  Congratulations to Jasmine Eatmon!  She has been selected to the 2008 USA Volleyball Girls Youth Development A1 Camp to be held in Colorado Springs July 12-16.  Jasmine was only of only 36 players in her position chosen nation-wide to train in this camp.  The sky is the limit for this girl!  Congrats Jasmine!
And there's more!  Rancho would also like to send out a big cheer to Tatiana Martinez.  Tatiana was selected as one of 12 girls in the SCVA  to train with the SCVA High Performance Youth Red Team.  This is the top team in her age group (15-16 year olds).  The team will compete in the High Performance Championships in Tucson in July.  Congratulations Tatiana!

Another Rancho player makes waves nationally... Big congratulations go out to Alyssa Mason from our 16-1 team.  Alyssa has been chosen for the USA Select A1 team.  She was one of only 30 athletes chosen nation-wide to train and compete in Tucson, Arizona from July 17th-27th where she will receive training for some of the most respected USAV and collegiate coaches in the country.  The group will then be divided into three teams to represent USA Volleyball in the USAV High Performance Championships from July 23rd-26th.  Great Job Alyssa, we are so proud of your accomplishment!

CONGRATULATIONS:

We would like to congratulate Krista Vansant from our 18-1 team on being invited to Georgia for the Youth National Training Team.  She has been selected along with 21 other top volleyball players across the country.  The Youth National Team will be going to play in Puerto Rico this summer.

Congratulations on your honor and we wish you the best.

From:  usavolleyball.org
USA Volleyball announced today the 22 players selected to the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Training Team, which will train May 15-18 at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. After the training session in Atlanta, the team will be narrowed down to 12 players who will represent USA Volleyball as its 2008 U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team at the NORCECA U-18 Continental Championship at Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The NORCECA event takes place July 3-11.

RVVC 16-1 players selected for High Performance teams:

Congratulations:  to Alyssa Mason for being selected to the SCVA Select High Performance Team, and to Tatiana Martinez for being selected to the SCVA Youth High Performance Team for 2008.  The girls will be competing in Tucson, AZ this summer representing our region and our club.  Way to go girls. Rancho is proud of you!

CONGRATULATIONS to Danny and the fabulous girls on our 18-1 team.  They have won the first Div 1 mandatory of the season!  We are so proud of all that this team has accomplished.  With so many new faces on the team coming up from the 17's and 16's from last year, this result is particularly impressive.  The hard work in the gym is paying off girls!  Keep it up!

-DID YOU KNOW.....That Rancho Valley has 5 teams playing in Division 1 of their respective age groups?  That's right!  Check out these impressive standings:
Our 18-1 team is currently the #1 team in the 18's division
Our 16-1 team is the #13 team in the 16's division
Our 15-1 team is the #10 team in the 15's division
Our 14-1 team is the #5 team in the 14's division
Our 12-1 team is the #6 team in the 12's division

THAT is what happens when quality training meets high caliber athletes with an exceptional work ethic.  It is the Rancho recipe for success!  :)

Rancho would also like to congratulate Morgan Carty from our 18-1 team for being named The Daily Bulletin’s Player of the Year. To be singled out among all the outstanding players in the area is spectacular!

All in the Family….Not only was freshman phenom Krista Vansant named to the Div II All CIF-SS team for her efforts in leading REV to its first CIF title in volleyball, but her mom, Trish Vansant, was named the Div II CIF-SS Coach of the Year.  How great is that?!!!

Lastly, we’d like to congratulate all players who received all-league awards for their performances this last high school season.  We don’t have a listing of them all, but we know there were an amazing amount of you who were honored.  We salute you and are so proud you are a part of the Rancho Family!

2007 CCAA Coach of the Year: COACH KIM CHERNISS

Coach Kim Cherniss was named the 2007 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Coach of the Year, the fourth time that Coach Cherniss has received this honor during her 17 years at the helm of the Cal State-San Bernardino (CSUSB) Coyotes volleyball program.  During the 2007 season, the Coyotes had an overall record of 27-3 and 17-1 in conference play.  This was the second consecutive season that the Coyotes had lost only one match in CCAA action, as well as claim the CCAA conference title.  The Coyotes have claimed five of the last seven CCAA titles.

Since Coach Cherniss began leading the CSUSB volleyball program, she has amassed an overall record of 495-263 (65.3% winning percentage) and 194-92 (67.8%) in CCAA play.  Even more impressive, the Coyotes have won 20 or more matches in 11 consecutive seasons and amassed records of 426-150 (73.96%) and 180-38 (82.57%), respectively.  As a direct result of their on-court performance under the direction of Coach Cherniss and her long-time assistant and colleague, Danny Scott, the Coyotes have finished six out of the last eight seasons ranked in the Top 10 of the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 poll, and in the Top 15 since 2000, the first year in the history of the CSUSB program that the team earned a spot in the final poll of the season.

The success of the Coyotes’ program began to gain national recognition a few years earlier when the CSUSB program experienced another first with a Coyotes’ player, Jaime Liefveld, selected to the 1999 AVCA/NCAA Division II All-America team.  In nearly every season since then with the exception of 2006, one or more Coyotes players has been selected to the annual AVCA/NCAA DII All-America teams, including two DII National Players of the Year (Kim Morohunfola in 2003 and Brie Harris in 2004), as well as an AVCA/NCAA DII National Freshman of the Year (Traci Weamer) in 2005.  Several of these former or current Coyotes players including Jessica Granados also received other honors such as the CCAA Player of the Year and/or Daktronics NCAA DII Pacific Region Player of the Year, as well as conference and regional honors.

A number of other players have received off-court honors such as the ESPN/The Magazine Academic All-District 8 (West Region) team for their performance in the classroom, including Megan Haas, the current coach of the RVVC 15-2 team.

Of just the individuals who have received national honors, seven out of 10 are former Rancho Valley players who continued their volleyball careers at the collegiate level at CSUSB under the guidance of Coach Cherniss, the Head Coach of the RVVC club for 13 seasons.

Coach Cherniss’ passion, commitment, love of the game and players, competitive nature, and her interest in the on- and off-court development of players stems from her personal success as a two-time NCAA All-American (1st team) and former member of the UC Riverside Highlander volleyball team, the 1982 NCAA DII National Women’s Volleyball Champion.   Coach Cherniss is also a member of the UC Riverside Athletic Hall of Fame.

Congratulations from the entire RVVC family-past and present, Coach Cherniss, for all that you have accomplished over the years in leading the Coyotes volleyball program!  You continue to demonstrate that hard work, commitment, passion, love of the sport, drive to compete, and focus on the individuals are vital keys to success—on as well as off the court.

RANCHO WINS FESTIVAL, X2!!!!!!!!

Congrats to the girls from our 18-1 team and Coach Danny Scott, and our 14-1 team and Coach Mark Slater!

Both of these talented teams won their respective age divisions at the Volleyball Festival in Reno at the end of June.  These are the first festival wins for RVVC, so it was particularly sweet to get two at once!

18-1:  Danny has taken our 18-1 team to the finals twice before at Festival, so this was a much anticipated win for him and RVVC.  Our 18-1 team so dominated the field that they did not drop a single game over the grueling 5 day format.  This was a highly competitive field of teams to compete against.  Indeed, they faced some teams that had bested them during the regular season.  But Danny had his team playing their best volleyball of the year at the right time.  Be sure to check out the finals on TV!  The broadcast schedule is as follows:

FOX SPORTS NET WEST         FOX SPORTS NORTHWEST                     FOX SPORTS NET PRIME TICKET(WEST 2              )
Saturday 22 July 08:00pm            Saturday 22 July 02:00pm                            Tuesday 25 July 02:00pm

Rancho 14-1

14-1:  We could not be more thrilled at the performance of this great team.  Coach Mark Slater is a newcomer to Rancho, but certainly not new to winning big tournaments.  Coming off of his 13’s championship at JO’s last year with his previous club, Coach Mark knew just what to do to take this team to a new level.  This group of girls has worked so hard, beyond just this season.  Many of the girls on this team had played together for the past 3 years with Rancho.  With a couple of great new additions this year to the roster, this team had just the right ingredients to take it all the way.  And they did, not losing a single match in the entire Festival!!!  Wow.  The future sure looks bright for Rancho Valley!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

To Terran Poindexter!!!

RVVC is so proud to announce that another RVVC player has been chosen to train under the umbrella of USA Volleyball.  Terran, who is just a freshman, and a member of our 16-1 team, has been selected for the USA Girls Youth National A2 Team.  This is quite an honor as only 50 athletes from across the country were chosen for this roster.  We are so proud of all that you have accomplished Terran, and we know you will represent Rancho in a fantastic manner.

                         CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

                             To Krista Van Sant!!!

Krista is one of the players in our very talented 14’s division.  She play’s for Coach Mark on our 14-1 team.  We recently learned that Krista was one of 20 athletes in her age group picked to be on the Girls USA Select A1 team.  That’s 20 athletes nation-wide!  Krista will be going to Gainesville, Florida to train for 5-6 days with some of the top collegiate coaches in the country.  The select team will then participate for 4 days in the USA High Performance Championships, also held in Florida.  We are so proud of you Krista.  You represent Rancho and all its best qualities!
